Reunert announces the merging of two key business units

Johannesburg, 18 September 2012 – Dave Rawlinson, CEO of Reunert, announced today the merging of two key business units, Nashua Communications and Nashua ECN. The combined entity will trade under the name of Nashua Communications and will be headed up by the current Nashua ECN managing director, Andy Openshaw. Rawlinson said “This announcement is the culmination of months of thought and discussion and has the full support of both of the company’s management teams.”

Nashua Communications currently operates predominantly in the local area networking (LAN) space offering on premise Communication and networking solutions. Nashua ECN has a national IP-based network with points of presence and data centres in all the major metropolitan areas and currently operates in the voice, data and wide area networking (WAN) space. Rawlinson says “The rationale behind the merger is allowing a single team to unlock the huge value of our complementary product offering and skill sets, in a drive to offer a premier converged communication offering to the South African corporate market.” The new Nashua Communications will be in a position to offer a host of voice, data and hosted solutions bundled together for on-premise, purely cloud or hybrid scenarios.

The merger will be effective from the 1 October 2012 and coincide with the start of Reunert’s financial year. The combined businesses will generate over a R1bn of turnover with a staff count of roughly 600.

Graeme Eddey, CFO, and Jan Holtzhausen, COO of Nashua Communications, said in an announcement to staff “The bringing together of these two companies will unlock tremendous value and will position us as a true premier converged communications solution provider”.

Openshaw said in a letter to the staff of both companies “I am convinced that we will make a success of this tremendous opportunity and I look forward to an exciting year ahead.”
